Gateway Stands Update

Subject: Gateway Stands…

Greetings, Henri! They are finally ready for an appearance. Tomorrow at 5AM, Andy and I will be meeting Outfront Portable Solutions from Beamsville, Ontario who will be arriving with the steel frames for what we are now calling the “Gateway Stands”. That company’s installation is supposed to be done by late Friday. On Monday, millwork people from Ottawa will begin installing the wooden components for the structures. We’re hoping they might be ready to open by the weekend of August 26th and 27th, but like any construction project, you can’t count on completion times.

As you might already know, the western stand will be occupied by Robert Hupé. The eastern stand will be occupied by Gareth Davies, someone new to the Market. Gareth is the founder of Maker House on Wellington Street. His business is to retail the products of over 100 Canadian artisans. He’ll be presenting some of their work…most from the region… in his stand.

This project started because my wife and I, along with our partner, Andy Cullen, believed that outdoor vending is vital to the Market and that it should be a part of the Market’s first impression for people when they visit the George Street Plaza. We worked with the BMSA to get the project approved and we’re appreciative of the role they served. We wanted you to be aware of what is going on and we hope the Gateway Stands will serve the Market and the vendors very well. Please feel free to circulate this to your members.

Best regards – Grant, Pam and Andy
